In 2004 a small group of Westwood residents formed Friends of Westwood Library and proudly hosted the Grand Opening Day celebration in May 2005. Over the years the group has grown significantly and we have been able to support the branch helping to make it one of the busiest and most vibrant local branches in the Los Angeles Public Library system.
Today the Friends provide funding for an array of Library materials and services including the immensely popular “Hot Off The Press” program, as well as audio books, DVDs, foreign language reading materials, and periodicals. We fund library programs such as book clubs, SAT test training, lectures, and a computer aide; we have even purchased laptops computers for the branch to use for special programs. We host used book sales and other events throughout the year. Friends of Westwood Library is a charitable 501 (c) (3) corporation, donations are tax deductible.
The Friends of Westwood Library Board of Directors generally meets on the fourth Tuesday, every other month, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, the Board meets in the Roberta F. Bergman Community Room of the Westwood Library.
Friends of Westwood Library expresses its profound gratitude to its Founding members, past officers and chairs, and past Board members, whose service to the Friends and the Westwood Branch Public Library has contributed immeasurably to the vibrancy and success of the Westwood Branch.
